CASSELBERRY, Florida – September 2, 2015 – Orlando Cosplay sat down with Heather Wilson today, a Casselberry resident and first time convention go-er / cosplayer. Heather recently discovered the world of Cosplay at her first MegaCon (Mega Convention) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida last year, where over 80,000 fans were in attendance.
Orlando Cosplay: What were your first impressions upon arriving at the convention?
Heather: I felt tremendously overwhelmed because I did not know what to expect. There were so many people dressed in all these awesome costumes. Immediately I knew I had to join in on the fun and takes pictures with everyone. I could see just how passionate everyone was about cosplaying. These were new sights for me and I had to know more.
Heather added “I’m working on a new idea for a costume. I’m thinking Xena: Warrior Princess — Xena is such a “bad-ass” and I would love to feel like a bad-ass for one day just like her. The best part is I can make the costume myself.”
When Heather first discovered the world of cosplay she thought cosplaying meant “Millions upon millions of people dressing up in costumes.” But of course she soon learned that there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to the growing world of cosplay.
Heather works as a Realtor full time serving the greater Orlando area. She looks forward to the next cosplay convention so that she can break away from the 9-5 lifestyle and dress up to be someone else for the day. Cosplaying provides for a fantasy to be acted out and that is what heather loves the most!
